biostream® ZERO

What do you receive, and how should you store it?

Two components: the liquid in the bottle and a solid component. The 250 ml container is supplied with a tablet in the cap of the bottle. All other container sizes are supplied in two containers: the liquid component and the solid component in an extra container, which must be added to the liquid component for activation; for 1000 ml and 5 litres this is a powder mixture. Note: because of the so-called "muesli effect", in which coarse particles are at the top of the packaging and fine particles at the bottom, the solid component must be added to the liquid component COMPLETELY. The whole container is activated; how this works is explained above under "Prepare" and in the dosing instructions.

Before activation, the product has a shelf life of around 3 years. The solid component must be stored dry: it is hygroscopic and draws moisture from the surrounding air. After activation, the solution keeps for two to three months, stored cool and dark in the sealed original container.

Buyers receive the safety data sheet as a link with their invoice. Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use. Material compatibility applies when the recommended dosage and contact time are observed.

How long does it take to activate biostream® ZERO?

Around 3 hours. biostream® ZERO is supplied as a two-component system and is ready to use after a preparation time of around three hours, without complex plant technology. Before activation, the product has a shelf life of around 3 years, provided the solid component is stored dry.

What does biostream® ZERO work against?

Against the typical germs in drinking and process water: Legionella (Legionella pneumophila), E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and biofilms, in which these germs take hold. The proven efficacy is 99.9 % (Leibniz University Hannover, 1,620 individual tests, 5 minutes contact time).

Hydrogen peroxide and silver on the list under Section 20 of the Drinking Water Ordinance

biostream® ZERO complies with DIN 2001-2:2009-04 and is effective across the entire drinking water pH range. On the list of the German Environment Agency under Section 20 of the Drinking Water Ordinance, neither hydrogen peroxide nor silver-based agents are listed as disinfectants.

Hydrogen peroxide is not named as a disinfectant in the DIN standard. In the current UBA list of the German Environment Agency, too, it is listed exclusively as an oxidising agent. For disinfecting installations, DVGW code of practice W 291 gives 150 mg/l hydrogen peroxide compared with 6 mg/l chlorine dioxide. In DIN 2001-2, silver is named only as a preservative, not as a disinfectant.
