Risks posed by soda makers

Disinfecting soda makers

How can soda makers become a hazard? What role do bacteria and germs play in them?
Many people enjoy the refreshing "fizzy taste". However, the water from the tap does not contain sparkling CO2. The solution: soda makers enrich tap water with carbonic acid and so produce inexpensive, homemade sparkling water.

However, bacteria in soda makers can pose a health risk. With a few simple rules of behaviour, it is easy to prevent germs and bacteria from contaminating them. Only clean tap water, free from lead and other harmful substances, should be used in water dispensers.
